Family friendly brunch in Amsterdam centre at  The Hoxton

My favourite place for brunch in Amsterdam is the Hoxton, an elegant and hip place on posh Herengracht.

the interior of the Hoxton one of our favourite family friendly restaurants in Amsterdam for brunchThe Hoxton is a hotel (you may know its sister properties in London and Paris) and in Amasterdam  it has a really cool cafe and restaurant open to guests for all ages.

The interior here is hipster and grown up: leather couches and 70s inspired furniture fill a bright, large space of wooden floors and glass ceiling and modern touches such as the many Imac along the wall give it an unmistakable upscale and modern vibe.

Described this way, you may think the Hoxton is not family friendly but this is not the case. Kids of all ages are welcome here and if you come in the morning you will find may families with babies, buggies and toddlers filling up this space!

There is abundant room for strollers, the service is efficient and kind and the kitchen is open to off menu requests to make more elaborate dishes suitable for small taste buds.

The menu we go for at bruch offers from granola, to eggs and sandwiches and everything is fresh and delicious.

Address: Herengracht 255, 1016 BJ Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Burgermeester

The Burgermeester is a chain of gourmet burger restaurants you find in several locations in town.

The one local to us is on Utrechtsestraat and it is perfect if you want to enjoy a meaty treat with the kids. More than a restaurant, the place has a fast food type of vibe: the service is fast and efficient, there are no frills which means kids can mess and climbs around without bothering anyone but the food is good.

The burgers are generous but they also have ‘mini burgers’ that are perfect for kids

Address: several locations including  Elandsgracht 130, Plantage Kerklaan 37 and Utrechtsestraat 8.

Vondelpark 3

On a sunny day it is hard to beat Vondelpark as a family destination and this is also the case if you are hungry.

The park offers several food options, including hot dog stands and the family favourite Kinderkook, and also offers a beautiful terrace where you can order food and drinks.

The place has lots of space for buggies and strollers, it is inside the park so it is safe from cars (albeit not from bikes!) and has a dinner kids menu with fish fingers and sliders.

This is one of our favourite family friendly restaurants in Amsterdam for location. To avoid long waiting time, use the app to place your order (free wifi is available)

Pluk

Pluk is a healthy eating joint with a couple of locations in Amsterdam city centre and may seem like a strange pick for family place. Indeed, it is not suitable for buggies or very young children but it makes our list because our kids love their food and we love its looks!

Wonderful pancakes and happy kids in Pluk one of our favourite family friendly restaurants n AmsterdamThis eatery serves a selection of savoury meals (eggs and avocado, vegetable wraps etc) but what conquered the heart of our kids were their many cakes and delicious pancakes. They are fluffy, taste of cinnamon and come with gorgeous fresh berries and chocolate sauce on top. You cannot go wrong!

Address: Reestraat 19 and Berenstraat 19

Nemo’s restaurant

If traditional family friendliness is what you are looking for, then look no further than the cafe’ at the top of Nemo.

You can access is even without going to the museum and it is the perfect place for an early, child friendly meal (it closes at 5.30pm).

They have some healthy options and lots of fruit, a good bar and serve child favourite such as pizza in an informal and fun environment.

Nemo is one of our favourite places in the whole of Amsterdam to visit with kids and this family friendly restaurants is a great place to end you visit.

Il Pecorino

We discovered Il Pecorino during a stroll around Amstedam Noord and we are now obsessed!

Our favourite Italian family friendly restaurant in AmsterdamThis is an unassuming Italian restaurant in a square in Amsterdam Noord and it is perfect for families. The outside space is safe for running around, the staff welcomes the kids with crayons and they have a child menu with pizza, pasta and gelato on offer.

The quality is excellent (Italian talking here, you can trust me!) and the food is served in a fun way: the pizza came in the shape of a bunny and the spaghetti came with child safety scissors!

A huge hit with all of us, the kids licked the plates.

I hope you enjoyed our selection of family friendly restaurants in Amsterdam and you will find one (or more!) you like too. safe family travels!
