The Italian Dolomites are one of the most beautiful places in Italy and the world.
You may think I am letting emotions carry me away with this sweeping statement. After all, I have spent my entire childhood vacationing on the Dolomites, so I am indeed biased.
However, even just a glimpse at those towering mountains will prove my point.
The Dolomites are simply stunning.
If you love beautiful landscapes, outdoor pursuits and want to experience a corner of Italy like no other, they will be the perfect destination for your next trip. In this article, I share what I believe to be the most beautiful places in the Dolomites for sheer mountain beauty.

The Three Peaks of Lavaredo
The Peaks of Lavaredo are probably my high mountains favorite place in the world.
You can easily reach them by car or bus and you only need to get off your vehicle to feel the sheer majesty and beautiful of these rocks.
The peaks are so close to you, so high, they overlook valleys so vast, you can’t help but marvel at them.

You can enjoy views of the peaks from several angles, but the one you probably have seen in photos requires a bit of hiking (easy): approximately 45 minutes of an easy path, with the last 10 on a rather steep incline. Good hiking shoes are a must.

Lake Braies
Lake Braies is one of the most photographed places on the Dolomites and while it is fair to say it is now very much a victim of its own fame (overtourism is a thing here), there is no doubt it is also one of the most beautiful.
Braies is a small mountain lake encircled by beautiful peaks.
In the past, the lake was a quiet, somber place that invited the visitor to sit on its shores and take in the beauty. A historic hotel overlooking its shores added to the sense of a place that was out of an old storybook.

Nowadays, the feel is completely different, with busloads of tourists deposited on its shored at all hours of the day; however, there is no doubt that the views are still stunning and even without filter or AI magic the lake delivers some of the best views on the Dolomites.

Val Fiscalina
Val Fiscalina is a small secluded mountain valley at the very border between Italy and Austria. It is a side valley to Val Pusteria and it is special as it has mountains that seem out of a drawing, the are so pristine.
The valley develops as a large lawn with, in font, three peaks that form a natural sundial: if you follow the sun, you’ll notice it will align with Cima 11 (peak 11, where the sun shines at 11am), then 12 and then one.
The Valley has a a couple of bistrot / mountain restaurants but it is mostly the access point to high mountains hikes towards the Three Peaks of Lavaredo.

Seceda
Seceda is one of the most beautiful places in the Dolomites for mountain beauty and the perfect spot to experience the majesty of the mountains – as long as you are not afraid of heights!
Seceda is a peak of the Odle Range and it is one of the most panoramic points in Val Gardena, one of the most beautiful and popular valleys in the whole of the Dolomites area.
Seceda is easy to each if you are ok with cable cars and chairlifts (you need both to come up here) or if you are a good hiker and are not afraid of an altitude change of 1000 mt.
If you can takle it one way of the other, you can be sure you’l; be rewarded by maybe the most jaw-droppingly beautiful mountains view you can ever see.
