6 Delicious Warming teas from around the world you’ll love this winter
Delicious, soothing warming teas for winter perfect to defrost and relax in the the cold season.
If there is one thing living in Ireland has thought me is that long winter days are better with a cup of tea!
Traditionally, here if you say ‘tea’ you are talking about black tea but in the last few years, herbal teas have become so popular, the choice of warming teas truly is rather vast!
This is a least of warming teas from around the world I love.
Earl Grey Tea
Earl Grey Tea is very popular type of black tea with a delicate yet distinctive bergamot flavor.
You an enjoy it with a slice of lemon and with or without adding sugar. Despite the bergamot, it also goes really well with milk (milk doesn’t curdle it in as Earl Grey tea is not very acidic).
Origin: China
Rooibos Tea
Rooibos Tea is a very popular tea from South Africa with a distinctive warm and sweet flavor.
Roiboos is not related to green or black tea but rather comes from a bush called Aspalathus Linearis and is naturally caffeine free.
You can drink rooibos tea plain or add a slice of lemon.
While I have seen recipes calling for honey in it, I personally find it way too naturally sweet already for that option: I highly recommend you taste it before adding any additional sweetness to it!
Origin: South Africa
Chamomile Tea
Too obvious? Maybe, but good quality chamomile truly is a soothing and relaxing option for winter! I like the one made with full flowers the most.
Origin: Europe
Ginger and Lemon Tea
Ginger and Lemon Tea is a warming tea you can buy in the form of tea bags or make yourself by adding fresh ginger and lemon to hot water.
This tea is said to soothe the stomach and, personally, I have found it to be the case: especially after the big festive meals over Christmas, this tea was a welcome treat and aid to getting back on our feet.
Origin: China
Apple and Cinnamon Tea
Apple and cinnamon tea is a warming tea that smells and taste like Christmas! Sweet and festive, it’s lovely and comforting especially with cane sugar.
Chai Tea
A super popular type of tea in lndia especially, Chai Tea is a spiced black tea with hints of cinnamon cardamom, cloves and ginger, usually served with copious amounts of sugar.
