Best places to stay in and near Monument Valley USA: accommodation guide

Road to Monument Valley Arizona Utah

The best places to stay in and near Monument Valley, USA: Monument Valley hotels and accommodation guide.

The biggest challenge I found, when planning our visit to Monument Valley, was deciding where to stay.

When searching the web for good lodging options two things appeared clear: Monument Valley hotels are few and far between and they book up very quickly, so you need to act fast.

I found this piece of advice on travel forums about the area and indeed it seemed to be confirmed by my own web findings.

I wasn’t able to find any Monument Valley hotel that I could book with a free cancellation option, any that had more than a couple of rooms left (this was a good few months before our summer trip) and I also very quickly realized there simply were not many Monument Valley hotels at all.

We were lucky to snatch a great room at Goulding’s lodge but the stress of planning this night lead me to write this post.

This is my overview of the best places to stay in Monument Valley and the surrounding area, Monument Valley hotels and other hotels you can stay in when visiting Monument Valley but that are farther afield.

Monument Valley hotels

There are only two hotels in Monument Valley ‘proper’: the View hotel, which is inside the Monument Valley Navajo tribal park and Goulding’s Lodge, which is immediately outside the park.

The View Hotel

The view hotel is inside Monument Valley Navajo tribal park and is the first building you see as you enter the area.

The hotel takes its name from the fact that it is perched in the perfect position to catch the view of Monument Valley just below.

If you stay here, you do not need to do anything to see the peaks except for looking out of your window!

It is a stellar location and the view is indeed spectacular: it expands in front of you day and night and the fact that you don’t need to take the car, once at the hotel, to enjoy it, is a definite plus.

Larger families and groups can opt for the nice premium cabins the hotel has on their grounds.
