Our city guides for families
We love family city breaks. Before the kids came along we were avid city explorers (thanks, low cost airlines!!) and when the kids arrived we had no doubts we wanted to keep up our traveling traditions with them.
We didn't think visiting a city with kids would be much different than without, after all, we live in a city, so we are used to traffic and public transport.
However, we soon realized that while it is not difficult as such going on a family city break, it is definitely easier if you can count on tried and tested resources that are just for families.
The main things we had difficulties with were:
- Finding hotels that were good for families and that didn't break the bank
- Finding itinerary ideas that were realistic with kids (I am happy to walk all day, my kids disagree....)
- Getting ideas on things to do for kids that are also cool for parents
This is not always true for all cities, some have excellent mom bloggers covering a lot of the basics, but overall we found simple guides for city breaks with kids were often missing and so we created our own.
Our guides are written for visitors and from the point of view of the visitor, so they focus on sightseeing opportunities and sites that are of interest to tourists.
On these pages, you will find our family guides to our own cities, Rome and Dublin and family guides to all the cities we visited in Europe and the US.
Each guide is a starting point for first time family visitors to each city and has links to internal articles that go more in-depth about some of the attractions we mention.
I hope you enjoy them, safe travels!
